Welcome to Passion for Paper ! This year we celebrate our 21st Anniversary of business, and would like to thank all our loyal suppliers, customers and friends for helping to make this happen.

The Story of Passion For Paper

Established in 1996, Passion For Paper is the first fine stationery store to have opened in New Zealand. 

When living overseas, owner Kim Helas was inspired by the beautiful paper shops in Italy, and reminded of the love of ‘all things paper’ she’d had since childhood. She wanted to bring these products to New Zealand so that people here could enjoy them too; and so on 30th November 1996, Passion For Paper opened its doors and New Zealand’s first fine stationery store was established.

Almost 21 years later, Passion For Paper continues to source the finest wrapping papers, everyday stationery, leather journals and other writing accessories the world has to offer.

We are passionate about the products we have selected for our customers and the majority of our suppliers are family businesses with their own unique history and story of success, which brings a sense of nostalgia and provenance to each item we sell.

We are fortunate to be able to include in our range the wonderfully fragrant products of Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, one of the oldest pharmacies in the world, established in 1612 in the ancient city of Florence.

We continue to expand our popular signature range of Passion For Paper everyday cards. We print in short runs, using a 1970's Heidelberg offset printing machine on finest deckle-edged card from Italy, and each card is heat embossed by hand to reveal its message with a luxuriously raised print finish.
